Sandra Pasqua Obituary
Pasqua, Sandra 1940 ~ 2013 CHULA VISTA -- Sandra (Sandy) Pasqua died unexpectedly on September 27, 2013 at her Chula Vista home. She was 73. Born in Rockford, Illinois, Pasqua moved to Chula Vista in 1965. She was a long-time journalist in San Diego, working as a writer and editor at publications that included the Chula Vista Star-News (1976-87), Senior World and Antique & Collectables for California Publishing Co. (1987-93) and San Diego Metropolitan Magazine (1997-06). Sandy was a regular book reviewer for Lutheran Libraries for more than 20 years, and free-lanced for several publications including Dog Fancy, Contemporary Long Term Care and the San Diego Business Journal. Pasqua authored a children's book, "The Navajo Nation," and was a collector of all things armadillo. A long-time Chula Vista Library Trustee and friend to feral cats and dogs she rescued from the shelter, Pasqua drove a VW Beetle, took the trolley fearlessly and loved her iPad. She enjoyed attending local theater, the movies and dinner with friends, recently organizing a reunion of Star-News writers from the mid- 1980s. Most important, Sandy Pasqua was a loving mother, grandmother and wife to her husband Tom Pasqua, who preceded her in death in 1998. She is survived by two sons, Geoff and Bruce; two daughters, Julie Burks and Alexis Busalacchi; and three grandsons. A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, November 9, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Chula Vista. Service starts at 11 a.m., followed by lunch. Everyone is welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Chula Vista Nature Center at: www.thelivingcoast.org/sandypasqua/
