Green, William Bartell "Coach Green" ESCONDIDO -- Bill laid down his mortal fly rod for the last time on November 17, 2012 at age 84. Born May 27, 1928 to William Horace and Thursa Mackay Green in Provo, Utah. He graduated from Provo High School in 1946, University of Utah in 1951, and received his Doctor of Education degree from BYU in 1970. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married his high school sweetheart, Iona Nielsen, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 14, 1948. His happy life revolved around his wife of 64 years, seven children, 32 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. He played on University of Utah's baseball team in the 1951 College World Series and was a third team All-American. Bill was a high school teacher and coach for 33 years at Olympus High School in Utah, Escondido and San Pasqual High Schools in California. Coaching young men in football and baseball, including his four sons, was his passion. Bill loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and his fellow man. He served in many callings in his church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24th, in Orem, Utah. In lieu of flowers you may donate to the LDS fund at ldsphilanthropies.org.
