ATKINS, CINDY PEARL August 25, 1958 to Sept. 13, 2012 Cindy Pearl Atkins was born in Indiana in 1958, the only daughter of Howard and Margaret Light. She will be remembered by family and friends by her love of the ocean and early morning walks on the beach with her children looking for sea shells. Cindy also had a great love of animals; dogs, cats, horses, of which she had many. After graduating from Camelback High School, Phoenix, Az, in 1976 she married her husband Jeff Atkins in 1983 and enjoyed 30 years of happiness with him and her children. Cindy worked in the hotel industry for over 12 years and spent her last 20 years working as an office manager for Technical Telephone Services. She was well respected in the industry. She also taught children in her local church, served in many other church ministries, but most of all enjoyed supporting those who were being baptized by comforting them with a calm word before and a dry towel afterwards. She was well loved for her sacrificial service. Cindy also enjoyed camping with friends and traveling, especially to Hawaii. She had no greater love than just spending time at home surrounded by her family enjoying their laughter, listening to their stories, and of course playing euchre. Cindy battled lung cancer for 2.5 years knowing she would win the battle by either beating the disease or going home to Jesus giving her cancer the death it deserved. She is survived by her husband Jeff Atkins, her three lovely children Christopher Vogel, Elizabeth Atkins, who gave birth to Cindy's only grandchild, Sophie Pearl Atkins, who shares her middle name, and Amy Atkins. She is also survived by brothers David and Larry Light, nephews, Charles Jr., Shane, Preston, nieces, Tammy, Cathy, Lisa, grandnephews, Corey, Jonathan, and grand nieces, Mercedez, and Danielle Atkins, who she raised since the age of 10. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and her brother Charles Ellis. Memorial Services to be held at Pathways Community Church, 9638 Carlton Hills Blvd. in Santee, Ca. on September 22, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at the same location. Interment to be at Singing Hills Memorial Park, 2800 Dehesa Rd. in El Cajon, Ca. at 2:30 p.m. the same day. The family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses of Sharp Memorial Hospital, oncology ward, for their excellent care but more importantly for the love they showed Cindy as she completed her journey here on earth. From Jeff: Cindy you were an inspiration to me through your love, your beauty, your inner peace, and your sacrifice. You made others better by your mere presence. God could not have given me a better life partner and I will be eternally thankful. Until I see you again, I love you!
