Dennis Clyde Bowman Oceanside On the evening of Wednesday, September 7, 2016, Dennis Clyde Bowman passed away from ALS at Sharp Memorial Hospital at the age of 72. He was surrounded by his family and close friends. Dennis was born in Los Angeles, California and at the age of 3 years his parents, Vernon C. Bowman, Sr. and Dinorah Gardener moved to San Diego. Dennis was a graduate of Crawford High School, class of 1962. He was a great athlete, CIF champion in wrestling and Athlete of the Year. Dennis served in the Army National Guard as a young man. He loved his career as a concrete truck driver. He would proudly point out buildings and neighborhoods he helped build including the Cox Arena at San Diego State. He was very proud to help create the building where he stood later that year to watch his daughter, Michele, receive her college diploma. The last seven years, Dennis became the concrete foreman of Conrock. His final job before retirement was building Petco Park, home of the Padres. Dennis spent his days working hard to provide for his family. He spent his free time riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was the most warm hearted man who loved to dance at parties, joke, laugh and share stories. Dennis was the middle child of two brothers, Vernon and Glenn. He was a loving husband for 46 years to Jayne Bowman, devoted to his daughter, Michele Hoyo (Josh) and sons Scott Webber (Melissa) and Dennis Bowman, Jr. and six grandchildren. He was also a beloved father figure to his son in law Joshua Hoyo, Sr. Dennis was a very intelligent man with a knack to fix and build anything, but mostly a loyal and loving man who helped everyone he knew. He was generous and kind to everyone. He will be greatly missed. Services will be October 8, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at Mission San Luis Rey, 4070 Mission Ave., Oceanside, CA.
