Donna L. Thill Obituary
Thill, Donna L. SAN DIEGO -- Donna Thill was born on January 15, 1928, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Aubrey James and Ebba Louise Gregory. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, at her residence in La Mesa, CA. Donna graduated from West High school in Rockford in 1945 and attended the Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis to become a lab technician. In that capacity she worked for over 40 years, finishing her long career at the Hillcrest Medical Group in San Diego, CA. Donna was introduced to her husband, Morley 'Corkey' Thill, in high school by her older sister Jean. Donna and Morley, along with Jean and her fiance, Victor Bernin, eloped to Morgansville, Kentucky, for a double wedding on October 10, 1948. Donna and Morley moved to San Diego in December of 1960 where they raised their three sons, Greg, Gary and Jeff. Donna's involvement with St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church was a very important part of her life. She and her many close friends there were involved in a variety of charitable functions and she was privileged to become a member of "The Order of the Daughters of The King" in recognition of her many years of service. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Donna had many friends in both Rockford and San Diego, and was known for her "open kitchen" where she frequently cooked meals for all who stopped by. She was famous for her hand-knitted Christmas stockings, a coveted possession of her many family members. Donna will be remembered most for her beautiful smile, her infectious good humor and her deep love of family. She especially loved holiday traditions, a love which she passed along to her family. She is survived by her three sons, Greg, Gary and Jeff Thill, who were the centers of her life, and by her 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20th, at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in San Diego. Donations to the church are appreciated and may be made to the St. Dunstan's Memorial Fund.
