Gertrude (Trudy) Greno Obituary

Gertrude (Trudy) Greno VISTA -- Gertrude Greno (Trudy), 88, entered into Eternal Life on September 8, 2012, at her daughter's home in Vista surrounded by family. She was born on August 7, 1924, the daughter of August and Emilie Wallinger. Trudy was raised in Niefern, Germany.

She grew up during WWII, attended grade school and graduated college. After college, she worked for the Red Cross, where she met her husband of 50 years, John Greno, a Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army. They were married on January 15, 1949 after getting special permission from the U.S. Army.

A church wedding followed in Trudy's home town of Niefern, Germany, on January 22, 1949. The newlyweds moved to Kenosha, Wis., where Trudy resided with her husband, John, for 50 years. Trudy took great pride in being a homemaker. She loved to entertain, cook, sew, read and travel. The best memory her family holds is of her in the kitchen, cooking up some of her best recipes. Her greatest achievements were being a great homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her greatest joy was being with her children and grandchildren. After moving to Calif., she was known to all as, OMA.

Trudy touched the lives of everyone she met and she will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her. Trudy is survived by her two children: a son, Gordon, who resides in Ahwatukee, Arizona with his wife, Christine and their three daughters, Katelyn, Karly and Kendra, and her daughter, Diane (Kocheran) who resides in Vista, Calif., with her two children, Courtney and Michael.

A memorial service will be held on at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 29th, 2012 at North Coast Church in Vista, Calif. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com
