Obituary Condolences

HUENNEKE, JOHN N. Sept. 27, 1920 to Nov. 21, 2012 John Huenneke was a self-made businessman, entrepreneur and artist, born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma who migrated to California in his early 20s. He served in the U.S. Air Force in both World War II and Korea and retired Lt. Colonel in 1980. An Encinitas resident since 1953, John owned his own real estate firm, Huenneke Realty, for many years and was a custom builder. Later, he was a sculptor and painter and during the 1980s and 90s had an active studio in Spanish Village. His artwork is in collections throughout the country. A reception celebrating his life and art and opening a two week exhibit of his sculpture will be held at the San Diego Sculptors Guild at Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 4 p.m. He leaves his wife, Constance, of Encinitas; a son, David Eric, of Cambridge, MA; and three grandchildren.
