DesJardin, John Wallace BONITA -- John "Jack" DesJardin passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, joyously reuniting in heaven with his first born daughter Mary Bridget. Jack was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary; five of their six children, John DesJardin, Dede and husband Todd Hollis, Sarah and husband Marc Larson, Megan and husband Dana Hall and James and wife Laurie DesJardin; and three grandchildren, Michael and Austin DesJardin and Shane Hollis. Jack was born in Lewiston, Maine on July 8, 1930 and is the son of Timothy and Mary DesJardin. Jack graduated from Lewiston High School in 1948 and attended his beloved College of the Holy Cross. Jack served with pride and distinction in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Jack took immense pride being a Naval Aviator and commanding a squadron (Blue Eagles) in Vietnam in 1967. Upon retiring from the United States Navy in 1973, Jack began the true calling of his life-one of coaching, teaching and mentoring young adults. Jack earned a Doctorate degree from the United States International University (USIU) and taught Economics at USIU, Whittier College and National University. Jack lived a full and honorable life, one that was filled with a sense of adventure and humor. He will be remembered for his quick wit, love of competition, and complete devotion to his loving wife Mary. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 26th, at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 450 Corral Canyon Rd., Bonita CA.
