I know the thing that bothered you most was leaving your sweet girls. There is no doubt they miss you everyday, but they are OK. You gave them such a strong foundation of love and nurturing and they have soared. I'm so proud of your girls, they have such strength of character. Your legacy lives on through them.

9 years later and our wonderful friend Lisa is still missed! In her memory today I sang the Tiki Room song to myself at work, just like I used to do while working with Lisa (and making her question my sanity!). So glad to hear about baby Ethan!

Dirk, Aly, and family--
Our thuoghts remain with you and we keep fond memories of Lisa in our hearts. Last week, when we found out the venue of today's soccer tournament was Mira Mesa, it immediately took us back to a year ago when we learned of Lisa's passing before that tournament. Thanks for sharing your thoughts in the newspaper today. It was another reminder of a very special person.

I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING LISA THROUGH MY EX HUSBAND. LISA'S FIRST HUSBAND SCOTT WAS MY HUSBANDS STEP BROTHER. LISA, WAS A VERYKIND,CARING,UNDERSTANDING AND MOST OF ALL THE LOVE SHE HAD FOR HER GIRLS

I WAS DEEPLY SADDENED WHEN I HEARD THE NEWS OF LISA PASSING AWAY. LISA WAS NOT ONLY A MOM TO HER KIDS BUT SHE ALSO CARED VERY DEEPLY FOR NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

IN DEC 1992 LISA WAS MY COACH AT THE BIRTH OF MY SON. SHE WOULD HAVE GIVEN HER SHIRT OFF HER BACK TO HELP ANYONE. JESSICA, ALYSON & CASSIDY HAVE LOST THE MOST PRECIOUS GIFT THEY HAD BEEN BLESSED WITH. bUT KNOW JESSICA, ALYSON & CASSIDY THAT YOUR MOM WILL LIVE FOREVER IN YOUR HEARTS. SHE IS IN PEACE NO MORE PAIN AND YOU CAN TALK TO HER ALL THE TIME. YOU WONT HEAR HER BUT SHE IS LISTENING TO YOU.

YOU HAVE OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY,

It was with great sadness that I heard of Lisa's passing. Even battered with cancer, she sparkled with a love of life and her family. Cassidy is a classmate of my daughter. I have and will continue to look upon Cassidy as a reflection of her mother's charm and generosity. You are all in my thoughts.

We've been friends with Lisa's family since before she was born. My playmates growing up were Lisa's older brothers Craig and Mark. My younger sister and Lisa were friends. They lived across the street from us on Falmouth before moving to the house Barb still lives in today. My fondest memories growing up were with the Smith's. Every year we would put on a huge Jerry Lewis MD fundraiser carnival in our garage and backyards. We have stayed very close over these 40+ years. Barb, Craig, Mark, Dirk and girls please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Lisa's short time here on earth was packed with great deeds and memories.

I'm so sad to hear of Lisa's passing. We grew up together at Northmont, Parkway, and Grossmont. One memory from Northmont that I tell my Jr. High students is how the strongest kid at my school was a girl. You see we had a arm wrestling contest in six grade and mostly boys entered, except for a few girls. In the finals two were left; some burly boy and this quiet girl named Lisa Smith. Well, it didn't take long for Lisa to put him down and recieve the honor of the strongest kid in the school. I'll miss her very much.

I was so sad to learn of Lisa's passing. We shared some good times together in our childhood years. I can't count how many times we swam in the backyard at her parents house, rode our bikes over to Grossmont and played raquet ball or just hung out. She even came down to Mexico with my Family a few times.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family.

I am so sorry to hear of Lisa's death. I knew here throughout my growing up years and became reconnected when our children went to school together. I watched Lisa making candy with her girls last Christmas. As others have stated, her love was for her family and she always showed courage to others when she spoke of her illness. I hope that I will also have the grace, dignity, and courage to face death and ultimately life as she did. She was an inspiration and I also have been praying for Dirk and the girls. May God surround you for the rest of your lives with loving people and beauty. Wendy LaFrenz

I was so sorry to hear about Lisa's passing. I was her daughter Cassidy's preschool teacher for the City of La Mesa. Cassidy was a joy to have in my class and Lisa was always so friendly and cheerful each morning when she brought Cassidy to school. Lisa was always ready to help out when and where she was needed. I will hold her in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Miss Kerry

My youngest memories of childhood are the times Lisa and I spent together playing. Swimming in the pool in the back yard, lots of sleep-overs at Mrs. Smith,s,racketball, tennis, riding bikes and always yummi food. Mrs. Smith always had great food. In fact I spent more time at Lisa,s house then mine. Her family was just so wonderful compared to mine.

She was a very special person. I will miss you, Lisa, my very first true friend. Kathy (619)334-8614

I was blessed to know Lisa through our children at Northmont. What an amazing woman! Her bright beautiful smile was like an accessory that she always wore.

I am inspired by her courage throughout her illness and in awe of her strength to go on with everyday life and FIGHT. I will miss seeing her smile but I find comfort in knowing that she is with the Lord.

Our deepest condolences to her family and close friends who knew her best.
