McAtee, Lois 'Connie' 06/22/1932 ~ 11/30/2012 OCEANSIDE -- Lois "Connie" McAtee unexpectedly passed away on November 30, 2012 in Sunnyvale, Calif., as a result of complications from pneumonia and Parkinson's disease. She was 80 years old. She will be dearly missed by her many friends and family members. Connie was born on June 22, 1932 in Elgin, Illinois to Arthur and Evelyn Conro. She grew up in Elgin, Illinois, After graduating from high school, she joined the U.S. Marine Corps. There she met and married a fellow Marine, William Arthur McAtee, with whom she raised a family of four children until his death in 1996. Connie moved to Oceanside in 1970 upon William's retirement from the Marine Corps. She lived there until 2012 when she moved to Sunnyvale, Calif., to be closer to her daughters. Upon moving to Oceanside, Connie worked as a school cafeteria supervisor for the Oceanside Unified School District for 20 years. Connie was very active in her children's lives, participating in the girl scouts, boy scouts, and competitive sports. She loved to bake and won numerous awards and contests for her baking, She always was baking for her family and friends, Connie loved competitive sports and actively participated on senior basketball teams until she was 75 years old. She enjoyed singing and belonged to a group that entertained at nursing homes and other venues. Connie is survived by her children: Barbara McAtee Littlepage (Tom), Terri McAtee (Jack Marino), David McAtee (Lourdes), and Steven McAtee; her brothers, Arthur Conro, Earl Conro, and Jim Conro; her sister, Pat McArdle; numerous nieces and nephews, and a large group of close friends. She loved being "Grandma Mine" to Matthew, Marc, and Katharine Marino. A memorial service will be held on December 14, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 2001 So. El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Connie's name to the Michael J.
