Mimi was born in Long Beach, California to David L Munns, a career Naval Officer, and Elizabeth M. Munns, daughter of a Navy Admiral. As a Navy "Junior", Mimi lived in many different Navy towns growing-up. After graduating high school, Mimi enrolled at Virginia Intermont College near Roanoke, Virginia, a two year women's college. She graduated from VI and was preparing to attend the University Of California at Santa Barbara when she met Ken Healey in Arlington, Virginia. Mimi went on to attend UCSB, but her heart remained in Arlington. Mimi and Ken were married in Christ Episcopal Church in Coronado, California on December 21, 1968. For the next twenty-five years, Mimi raised her son and daughter and supported her husband. In the 90's, she decided to return to college. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from the "PACE" program of Bethel College. Shortly after graduating she became employed by Qualcomm in the high-tech industry. She enjoyed her work there, and especially enjoyed meeting all of the people working with her.
