Obituary Condolences

GULICK, OLIVE JANE (BLACK) Olive Jane Gulick passed away on September 8, 2012, in Damascus, Oregon, where she had been residing in an adult care home. Olive, the youngest of three children, was born to John and Harriet Black on December 27, 1916, in Bisbee, Arizona. Both her parents emigrated from England and where John was employed in the copper mines. In the early 1920s, the family moved to National City, California, where Olive, the youngest of three children, remained in the same home for over fifty years. Olive married Grant Gulick in 1958 and worked as a primary teacher in the San Diego Schools for over thirty years. After retiring in 1976, Olive and Grant resided in Twenty Nine Palms, later in Yucca Valley, California, for a period of time. She loved children, games, and cute cocker spaniels and was a favorite aunt to her brother's children, Leonard, Rex and Valerie. Survivors include her niece Valerie Roche (Gary) and nephew Rex Black (Carrie). Services will be held at Glen Abbey Cemetery in the Little Chapel of the Roses, Bonita, CA, on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. where she will be buried in the family plot and rest beside both her parents, uncle, brother, sister, and husband.
