Ted Miller Brindle Obituary
Brindle, Ted Miller 03/02/1913 ~ 02/21/2014 LAKE SAN MARCOS Ted Miller Brindle passed away Friday, February 21, 2014, at his Lake San Marcos home, nine days shy of his 101st birthday. Born in Ashland, Ohio, to Tracey and Florence Brindle, Ted is survived by son Jonathan and his wife, Patti, of Poway; daughter Laurie of Vista and her friend, John Case, of Cardiff; niece Tracey Peavy of Parker, Colo.; and nephews Skip Brindle of Gilbert, Ariz., Curt Vogt of Kannapolis, N.C., and Dan Burgener of Lucas, Ohio. Brothers Richard Murray and James Lester preceded him in death, as did his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Frances, whom he cared for in her final years. Ted graduated from Ohio State University in 1934 with a degree in business administration, having also attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., where he joined Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Ted continued to be an avid supporter of OSU Buckeye football all his life. Ted moved to the Los Angeles area in 1939 and worked at Lockheed and North American Aviation before beginning his 50-year real estate career, which included owning his own office in Brentwood. In 1967, the family moved to Lake San Marcos. Ted overcame several illnesses but remained a skilled golfer who bettered shooting his age at 74, played until he was 96, and could still hit a golf ball at age 100. He excelled at crossword puzzles and entertained friends and family with his sharp wit and recollections of his youth, such as watching soldiers go off to war in 1917, the advent of automobiles, Prohibition, the early days of radio, and L.A. in the 1940s. His family is grateful for the many years they shared with him. No services are planned. Interment will be at the Ashland Cemetery in Ohio, where generations of the Brindle family are buried.
