Serrano, Daniel R. NATIONAL CITY -- Born to Daniel and Mary Serrano on July 5, 1944 at Lincoln Hospital in East Los Angeles, CA. Passed on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at home in National City, CA. Attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School, and graduated Salesian High School 1962 in Los Angeles, CA. Dan was a Union Sheet Metal Worker for 42 years, entering the Sheet Metal Workers International Association in September 1962, and retiring July 2004. A proud member of Local 105 - Los Angeles for 35 years, and Local 206 - San Diego until his passing. Not content with retirement, Dan joined the Chula Vista Senior Volunteer Patrol where his last assignment was as Duty Officer. In addition, Dan was appointed as a Commissioner to the Community Relations Board for the National City Police Department. Dan was an active leader in the National City C.E.R.T. program, which allowed him to use many of the skills and safety knowledge he acquired as a Sheet Metal Worker. A true patriot, Dan was an American History enthusiast and staunch supporter of the U.S. Military. Always willing to lend a hand; whether preparing and mailing care packages to the troops, fund raising for cancer research, delivering meals during the holidays, or just assisting as needed. Dan was a kind, easy-going, loving and supportive man He enjoyed golf, traveling, fishing, watches, gadgets, and had recently taken up kayaking. Dan's greatest love and joy was his family. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife and best friend Kim, dog and companion Megan, mother-in-law Joanne Cumming, brother-in-law Bill Cumming and wife Diane, sister-in-law Kelly Cumming, nephews Manuel Christopher, William, Chris and Ricky, nieces Sarah, Alexandria, Jacqueline and Joannie, great-nieces Ashlyn and Addisyn, great-nephew Ricardo, as well as his many friends.
