Speeg, William James 03/06/1967 ~ 02/11/2014 Our beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Brother-in-law, Uncle, and dear friend, Bill sadly passed away while training for the upcoming Oceanside Ironman triathlon. His unwavering dedication and focus to his goals exemplifies his character, spirit, and drive for success. Bill was so proud of his family, whom he loved with his whole heart and soul. Kelly and Ashley were his pride and joy, and they shared many wonderful times together. Bill and Kelly met at the San Diego USO in 1989 and were married in March of 1990. PO1 William J. Speeg proudly served in the United States Navy for ten years, including a deployment during the Persian Gulf War on the Guided Missile Cruiser CG-33, the USS Fox, and was honorably discharged. He found great joy competing in Spartan races and half marathons throughout the country. Bill was particularly proud of completing the Empire State Building Run and the 9/11 Stair Climb. Bill was Vice President of the family business, where he worked for twenty years. As a Regional Director of the All-American Soap Box Derby, Bill touched the lives of thousands of families who looked to him for guidance, support, and love. Bill is survived by his Wife Kelly of twenty- three years, his Daughter Ashley, his Mother Betty, his Brothers Adam, Chris, and Steven, Father- and Mother- in-law John and Bonnie, Brother- and Sister- in-law Brad and Kimberly and their children Joshua, Colton, Faith and Anya. Bill passed away doing what he loved, and he will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him. Everyone who knew Bill will speak of and forever remember the qualities that defined him: Loving, Joyful, Selfless, Genuine, Respectful, Generous, Dedicated, Kind, Patriotic - Bill stands as a role model for us all to strive toward.
