Irwin, Kathleen M. 03/15/1916 ~ 03/19/2014 ESCONDIDO / RANCHO BERNARDO Kathleen M. Irwin, a long time Escondido and Rancho Bernardo resident, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2014 after living a long and healthy life. She was born on March 15, 1916 in Kirkwood, Missouri, and had lived in the Escondido and Rancho Bernardo areas for more than 33 years. In 1941, she married her husband, Arthur C Irwin who at the time was in the Army. After Arthur's military service, they moved from the St. Louis area to the Los Angeles area and lived in Torrance, California for many years. Kathleen was a secretary for many years, before becoming a secretary to a General in the Air Force. After her and her husband's retirement, they moved to the San Diego area where they lived in various communities. Kathleen had a passion for life, would be singing whenever she got the chance and spending time with family and friends. She was a devout Catholic, and belonged to St Michael's Catholic Parish in Poway. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur C Irwin; her brother, Frank Bredall; and her sister, Rosemary A. Nunnink. She is survived by her sister, Helen DeVasto of Kirkwood Missouri; nieces, Barbara A. McFarland, Karen M Sasek, Mary P Clifford, Francine Proffer, Kathy Quick, Dianne Shapiro, and Mary Callahan; nephews, James Bredall, Phillip R. Nunnink, Joseph E. Nunnink, Dennis DeVasto, Raymond DeVasto, Daniel DeVasto, Neil DeVasto and Anthony DeVasto. Kathleen will be greatly missed by all her family and friends, especially her second family at Garden Park Villas, where she had spent the last eleven years of her life. "Thank you all so much for taking such good care of her!" A private committal was done on March 28, 2014 at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido. Arrangements are by Alhiser-Comer Mortuary
