Dia, Josephine Mirabile 10/07/1919 ~ 05/29/2014 SAN DIEGO -- Josephine was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 7, 1919 of Italian immigrants, Joe and Josephine Mirabile. Josephine is predeceased by her husband, Liborio (Leo) Dia; her sister, Antonina (Nina) Mirabile; and her nephew, Frank (Diane) Balistrieri. She is survived by her daughter, Saverina Dia (Scott) Tisdale; her sister, Maria (Donald) Hayes; and her nephews, Joe (Linda) and Anthony "Tony" Balistrieri. She graduated from Eagle Rock High School and Occidental College in Los Angeles where she received the academic honor of Phi Beta Kappa. She taught school in the San Diego Unified School District for a few years, but then changed to become a Public Accountant. She and her husband, Leo, were involved in the music machine business and other business endeavors. Traveling in Europe, especially in Italy, was a passion of theirs; Italian food dominiated her cuisine. Fashion, home decorating and family were also important in her life. Josephine was very kind and generous to her loved ones who will never forget her. Funeral services will be held privately.
