HANCOCK, LOUISE (MEARES) Louise (Meares) Hancock passed away on Wednesday, October 31st, 2012, with family by her side. Born Louise Lavina Barton on February 25th, 1937 in Blanford, Massachusetts. She married Richard Freeman Pratt in 1953 and together they had three boys. The Navy brought the young family across the country to Imperial Beach, CA, in 1960 and then one year later moved them to the country of Japan, where they stayed for three years. In 1964, Louise returned to the states with her three boys, settled into San Diego County, CA, and went to work. She worked a variety of jobs in those days, often two simultaneously to support her family until she found her true calling in the counseling field. Louise spent 30+ years counseling others as a profession but also voluntarily, to be of service to others. She freely facilitated women's groups in community churches' and even in her own home. Where ever she went she worked with others; providing guidance, comfort, and support. She was a loyal wife, trusted friend, devoted mother, and loving grandmother. She lived the belief that all people were important and family was everything. Louise is survived by husband Nephi Hancock, son Richard, son Roger, son Mark, grandson Matthew, grandson Christofer, her great-granddaughter Taya, her sister Betty Meinecke and brother Erwin Fox Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin Fox and Lillian Netti Barton. In addition to her extensive work with others, Louise was a gifted decorator and florist. She beautified the world around her and the people in it. Her spirited presence will truly be missed. Memorial Service to be held Friday, November 9th, 2012, 12:00 p.m. at East County Mortuary Chapel, 374 N. Magnolia Ave. El Cajon, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Becky's House, 1012 C Street, San Diego, CA 92101, (619) 239-0355, Ext. 244.
