Obituary Condolences

DIAZ, PETER PAUL Mr. Peter Paul Diaz, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, in Cumming, GA. Mr. Diaz was born January 25, 1924, in San Diego, California, where he grew up in Old Town and attended Point Loma High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II in the South Pacific. After returning from the war, he married his beloved wife Josephine of 54 years when she passed away in 2002. They raised their family in East County living in El Cajon, then moving to Santee where faithfully attended Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Peter was ceramic tile setter for over 25 years and a member of local Masonry and Tile Union #18. Eight years ago he moved to Cumming, Georgia, to live with his youngest son Gilbert Diaz and daughter-in-law Christine Diaz. He enjoyed living with his son and family in Georgia, but San Diego was always his home. He is survived by two brothers, Manual Diaz of El Cajon, CA, and Author Diaz of San Diego, CA; and a sister, Connie Fassett of Sacramento, CA. He is also survived by his three sons, Daniel Diaz of San Diego, CA; Julian Diaz of Temecula, CA, and Gilbert Diaz of Cumming, GA. He was the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Diaz will be flown back home to San Diego to be buried beside his wife at the Holy Cross Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the El Cajon Mortuary on November 16th between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will start at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at the Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Santee, CA, on November 17th at 1:00 p.m., with military honors. The burial will follow the mass at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego.
