Obituary Condolences

VIORA, GENEVA Geneva R. Viora was born on January 10, 1915 at her parents home in San Diego. She became the first born child of Virgil and Victoria Lucarelli, Italian immigrants from Monticatini, Italy. She passed away peacefully on January 20 at the age of 98. As the family grew she helped raise her three siblings, Wilson, Gloria, and Virginia. Geneva was a member of the first graduating class of Hoover High School in 1932. She met and married Armond Viora with whom she spent 64 years until his death in 1998. They built their one and only home in Talmadge Park where they raised their two children, Margaret and Robert, and hosted many family Italian gatherings with Geneva perfecting her parents cooking skills. Geneva worked at the May Company in the women 's dept. for 20 years and upon retirement began a new career at Kensington Pharmacy. But her favorite job was being Grandma Gigi. Geneva and her sister, Gloria, also served many years as caretakers for family members as they aged. She is survived by her sisters, Gloria Seymour and Virginia Wells; her children, Margaret Bouton, Robert (Evelyn) Viora; grandchildren, David Bouton, Lisa (Stuart) Grant, Karen (Gary) Milkis, Brian (Jennifer) Viora and great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Katie, Amanda, Andie, Beau as well as nieces and nephews and many friends. "Count your age by family and friends, not by your years," she would say. Special thanks to Paul and Joyce Desrochers who have 'religiously' helped Geneva continue her faith through all these years. A Funeral Mass will be held on February 8, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 4540 El Cerrito Drive, San Diego, CA 92115 (corner of 56th St. and El Cajon Blvd). In lieu of flowers , donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
