CONNORS, NORMA ELAINE Sept. 11, 1936 to Feb. 2, 2013 Norma Elaine Connors, 76, was born on September 11, 1936, in Highland Park, Michigan, the first born of six children to Jim and Mae Taylor. Norma grew up in the East side of Detroit, attending St. John Berchmans grade school and graduating from Servite High School in 1954. Norma married Pat Connors, also a Detroit native, on January 31, 1959. Shortly after marriage, Norma and Pat moved out west to the Sacramento, California area and started their family, Colleen born in 1960, Pat born in 1961, Jim born in 1962, John born in 1964, Kasie born in 1965, and Maureen born in 1968. In November of 1973, the family moved to Encinitas, California, with the family home still being in Encinitas. On May 18, 1984, Norma suffered the tragic loss of her beloved son, Jim. Although she often spoke of a broken heart due to his passing, she continued to always be an incredibly loving and supportive role model for her family and friends. In September of 2012, Norma was diagnosed with lung and brain cancer. Although her treatment was difficult, she continued to be her very cute and witty self throughout the process. On January 31, 2013, Norma and Pat celebrated 54 years of marriage. On February 2, 2013, Norma peacefully slipped away into the loving arms of God with a gentle smile on her face. Norma had a gift of genuinely making anyone who crossed her path feel very special. She had a presence about her that was so warm and loving and full of grace. Her children and grandchildren were her world and she traveled the country to support them in any and all activities. Her family values and the precious traditions that she created and constantly cultivated will carry on through her children and grandchildren, whom she cherished greatly. Norma is survived by her husband Pat; daughter, Colleen Bethea, (husband Pete), and grandchildren, Peter (28), Mary (26), Michael (24), and Danny (23); son, Pat Connors, (wife Trish), grandchildren, Patrick (26), Kelly (24), and Kaitlin (19); son, John Connors, and granddaughters, Natalie (24) and Taylor (16); daughter, Kasie Lindberg, (husband John) and grandson, Johnny (5); and daughter, Maureen Auer, (husband Hans), and grandchildren, Sarah (15) and Johann (13).
