HOFMANN, EMILY MARTHA Sept. 1, 1915 to Feb. 22, 2013 Emily Martha Hofmann, 97, passed away on February 22. She was born September 1, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the oldest of three daughters born to Lithuanian parents, Kazimer and Barbara Vicas. Emily married Walter William Hofmann in 1939, and had two children, Beverly and Michael. Emily and Wally moved with their children to San Diego 65 years ago and settled in Point Loma. Emily worked for many years as a school secretary at Ocean Beach Elementary School and then at Lincoln High School. After Wally's death in 1978, she opened and managed her own janitorial business, working until her late seventies. Emily was an avid reader and gardener. She was very dedicated to her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking family dinners and being surrounded by her children and four grand-daughters. Emily was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister Helen Molis. She is survived by her sister Anna Moynes, daughter Beverly Rothwell, son Michael Hofmann (Elaine), and granddaughters Michelle Nixon, Jill Gonzalez, Katheryn Lyon, Jennifer Persike and seven great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her warm smile, common sense, humor and delicious Thanksgiving dinners. She treasured family and was treasured by her family. Emily will be missed. Emily will be interred at the Lithuanian National Cemetery in Justice, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the , alz.org.
