Bourland, Robert John "Bob" 09/05/41 - 02/25/13 SAN MARCOS -- Bob Bourland passed away at home in San Marcos, California on February 25, 2013 at the age of 71. Bob was born in Oceanside, California on September 5, l941. He grew up in an unincorporated area of San Diego County known as North Carlsbad (later a part of Oceanside). He attended school and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1959. After graduating, Bob served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. He spent time on various naval vessels throughout the world, including the Philippines and Antarctica. When discharged, Bob went to work for the Sears, Roebuck and Company as an appliance repair technician, retiring after 37 years of service. He lived in San Diego County for most of his adult life, raising his young children with his first wife in Escondido. Bob later divorced and remarried, residing with his second wife until her passing, and later with his niece Ruthie and nephew-in-law Rob in San Marcos. Bob enjoyed traveling, sports, dining out, and visiting with relatives and friends. Bob always enjoyed family pets and the Dean's small dog, GiGi, provided daily companionship. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elma Bourland; his second wife, Rosemary Bourland; his son, Eugene Bourland; and his sister-in-law, Jeanie Bourland. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Joe Miller; his brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Barbara Bourland; nieces and spouses, Ruth and Rob Dean, and Anna and Jason Crooks; a niece, Heather Bourland; two stepsons and spouses, Craig and Gisele Campman, and Cary and Darlene Campman; a granddaughter, Sarah Miller; his first wife, Dorie; and many friends and relatives. Bob will be interned at the San Marcos Cemetery during a service on Friday, 15 March 2013, at 2PM.
