Wilbur Secor Obituary
Secor, Wilbur 1920 ~ 2013 SAN DIEGO -- Wilbur Secor, born in Denton, Montana, at age 3 moved to San Diego with his parents, Loretta Curtis and Albert Secor. Wil attended Hoover High School, and after serving on a Navy mine sweeper in WW II, graduated from San Diego State University. Working for the County Public Works Department, he met his wife Estelle. After 31 years he retired as a Principal Civil Engineer. He designed their home on the west rim of El Cajon and built 95% of it himself. In their ketch, which the harbor master called, "the biggest little boat in the harbor," the family enjoyed sailing up the coast to Catalina and the Channel Islands. In 1970 they bought a ranch in Montana's Bull Mountains where they spent months every year. Wil and Estelle traveled often to Europe. A member of the First Presbyterian Church in San Diego for over 50 years, Wil served as elder and was instrumental in development and construction of a church camp in Ramona. He sang in the Chancel and Westminster choirs for 25 years. Preceded in death by son Joseph and grandson Shawn, he is survived by Estelle, their grand- daughter Heather and her husband Walter Torres and their children Kayla, Karissa, Kelsea and Karleigh. A memorial service will be held at the First Methodist Church, Mission Valley, at 10 a.m., on August 3.
