Marlys "Marty" Moir Obituary
Moir, Marlys "Marty" CARLSBAD -- Marlys "Marty" Moir, beloved Mom, Mite, Grammom and Great- Grammom, went home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2013. She went home to be reunited with our Dad, Jim Moir, on his actual birthday, October 31! Marty was born in Bismarck, North Dakota, fourth child of seven born to Gilbert and Myrtle Korupp, on April 1, 1925. The Korupp family moved from Bismarck to the Los Altos, California area, and it was here that Marty graduated high school. Mom loved music and played cello in the orchestra. Upon graduating from Mountainview High School, Marty worked as a secretary and attended San Jose State. It was in the San Francisco area, during WWII, that she met her husband James "Jim" Moir, a handsome, dashing pilot in the US Navy. Marty and Jim had many exciting travels around the world and with Jim flying the plane, island-hopping throughout the Bahamas. In the 66 years they were married, Marty and Jim had several moves across country, and traveled extensively in their RV. As the years went on, they remained devoted to each other. Mom was born on April Fools Day, while Dad was born on Halloween! God saw fit to reunite them on Dad's birthday this year, October 31. Marty loved her Lord and her family dearly, and prayed daily for all of them. She was the example of what Jesus describes as having a servant's heart. Mom will always be remembered by her children, Gail (Carlo), Jim (deceased), and Vicki (Steve), her six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren for her good humor, and great love for them all. She was preceded in death by her husband James and her son Jimmy. A private service is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the .
