Horton "Cy" Simons

1930 - 2015

Simons, Horton "Cy" 07/09/1930 ~ 01/20/2015 NATIONAL CITY -- Horton "Cy"* Simons passed away peacefully of natural causes while at a Skilled Nursing Facility in San Marcos, CA. Cy was born to Frank and Edna Simons in St. Louis, MO. and was raised on his parent's turkey farm in Hillsboro, MO. In 1951 he joined the Navy and received an Honorable Discharge in December 1954. On August 9, 1952, he married Nancy Lee Holloman. Cy and Nancy remained in San Diego, CA where their three children (Tyree, Mark and Terri) were born. In 1955 Cy began his career with Pacific Bell Telephone which spanned over thirty years. During this time, Cy became very proficient as a field technician. Cy retired from Pac Bell in 1985 as a Data Board Supervisor. Cy's interest/ hobbies extended to wood working and computers. He devoted his time to special interest groups such as KAYPRO, WordPerfect, IBM and MAC. His interests also extended to the non-technical areas like UNO, Movies, San Diego Woodworkers and the Clampers. They all had a common thread: socializing, sharing knowledge and helping others. From 1985 to 1996, Cy operated One on One Assistance for the purpose of supporting others with his computer knowledge. Appropriately named, Cy also started Uncle-tiques to promote his interest in antique restoration. Cy was a demanding perfectionist that ruled with sternness, yet was an individual that would give a friend the shirt off his back. A few years after Nancy passed, Cy lived with the second love of his life, his girlfriend Ray until 2012 and continued corresponding until his passing. Cy was pre- deceased by Nancy (1994) and Tyree (2010) and is survived by (Tere), Mark (Becky), Terri, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorial Services to be held Thursday, January 29th, at 2:00pm in the Chapel of the Roses at Glen Abbey Mortuary in Chula Vista, CA.
