Obituary Condolences

CECIL, BETTY WEATHERLY Sept. 30, 1928 to Feb. 21, 2005 Betty Jane Cecil was born in Madisonville, Kentucky, the second daughter of seven children born to William and Mary Weatherly. Subsequently her family moved to Portland, OR where she graduated from Washington High School. Betty attended the University of Southern California where she graduated and met her husband, Earl Cecil from Fresno, CA. She was married in Lucedale, MS on September 29, 1951. Betty was a role model who displayed unusual poise and dignity. She was also the mother of two sons. When her husband, a Marine Corps aviator, returned from the war in Korea, they moved to Fresno, which was the beginning of many moves that ended here in La Jolla in 1976. Betty was involved in Arizona Cotton Wives and the Junior League. She also engaged in real estate sales, but she always had time to ski, play tennis, sail and was an ardent golfer at Morgan Run Golf Club where she had four hole in ones. She is survived by her husband, Earl D. Cecil, two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Julia Cecil and Thomas and Amy Cecil, and a sister Lynda Weatherly of Portland, Ore., six grandsons and a granddaughter. There will be a private Memorial Service at Morgan Run Golf Club and Resort. In lieu of sending flowers, please make a contribution to the San Diego Hospice, 43l1 Third Ave, San Diego, CA 92103.
