Dorothy Cigich Obituary

Dorothy Elizabeth Cigich, 81, was born in February 1931 in Glendale, Calif., to John Gunnar and Anna Elizabeth Ronnberg, and passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at her home in San Luis Obispo. Dorothy grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles in 1950. After high school, she worked for Anchor Hocking as a Girl Friday, where she met her husband-to-be. Dorothy married Alexander Matthew in 1954 at the Old Mission Santa Barbara. They were happily married for 45 years. He preceded her in death Feb. 9. 1999. She was a loving wife and mother, homemaker and secretary/bookkeeper. Dorothy is survived by her partner, Claude Arthur Quist of San Luis Obispo; daughter, Catherine Mary Martin of San Luis Obispo; son, John Alexander Cigich of San Jose, Calif.; and daughter, Christine Ann Takahashi of Cambria. She is also survived by six grandchildren Anna Mandernach of Campbell, Calif.; Ryan Cigich of Mather, Calif.; Eric Martin of San Luis Obispo; Amy Cigich of Mather; Todd Takahashi of Morro Bay; and Lily Takahashi of San Luis Obispo. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Los Osos Valley Memorial Park, 2260 Los Osos Valley Road in Los Osos. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Central Coast Hospice, 253 Granada Drive, Ste. D, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. Los Osos Valley Mortuary 528-1500 Los Osos
