Reinhardt, Alison
Alison Reinhardt Alison A. Reinhardt, 62, died peacefully in her home with family, April 3rd, 2015. Born in August 1952, Alison lived in San Luis Obispo all her life. She was the middle child with four sisters: Jan, Marcy, Mary Lynn and Joan, to the late Lloyd and Jean Villa. Alison started at Mission High School and graduated from San Luis Obispo High School in 1971. After high school, she worked at Sam's Restaurant and later as a custodian at Cal Poly until she retired. She graduated from Cal Poly with a Liberal Arts degree. She also had a variety of volunteer jobs, from picking vegetables on an organic farm to organizing CDs at KCBX. Alison was an A-1 wife and mother. She met her future husband Paul Reinhardt after high school and they were married in 1980. Alison and Paul's marriage was a strong and happy one, marked by love, partnership and many common interests, like gardening, biking and pinball. They had one daughter, Sara, whom she loved and was very proud of. After retiring, Alison and Paul bought a camper van and traveled all over the U.S. They made many friends working as course marshals at professional bike races. They also visited the east coast and Alaska. By many, Alison will be remembered for her hobby of dumpster diving. She would find all sorts of unique, useful, and sometimes valuable items which were then given to good, appreciative homes. She was strong, independent, funny, honest, wise, generous and always willing to do the tasks other people didn't want to do. She is one of a kind and will be greatly missed. Never a smoker, Alison was diagnosed with lung cancer in June of 2014. After bravely battling lung cancer for almost a year, she was ready to go. There will be a gathering of her friends and family at her home on April 24, from 2:00 to 6:00pm. Call 541-0943 for details. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Hearst Cancer Resource Center. Sign her guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries
