Jeffrey Stephen Hensley, 47, passed away suddenly Saturday evening, July 20, 2013, at his home in Atascadero. Jeff was born in August 1965 in Pasadena, Calif., the son of James Hugh and Marie Venne Hensley. He was raised in Pasadena, Rancho Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., and graduated from Rolling Hills High School. Jeff also attended Harbor Community College and graduated from California State University at Dominquez Hills with a degree in Communications-Television Studies and a minor in Journalism. He was very proud of his top honor award in the California Collegiate Student Media Festival for his film, "A Line in the Sand," Best Documentary News Feature. A resident of the Morro Bay and Central Coast area for the last 20 years, his professions included videography, as well as the local bicycle industry, including ownership of Morro Bay Cyclery and pro mechanic positions at Neuvation Cycling and Cambria Bicycle Outfitters. He was very mechanical and always called himself a knucklehead. His interests included his extensive vinyl album collection, love of vintage motors and radios and being amongst nature, especially the locale of his last residence. On Aug. 27, 2011, at a beautiful barn setting in Cayucos, Jeff married Brittany Jayne Keatts. Jeff, being the kind-hearted soul that he was, was always a tireless, giving and selfless volunteer to any person or situation. His good nature, funny personality, quick wit, sense of humor and creative and innovative ideas will be missed. He was a member of the Cayucos Lions Club and thoroughly enjoyed giving back to the community. Jeff is survived by his wife, Brittany of Atascadero; parents, James and Marie Hensley of Carlsbad, Calif.; sister, Leslie Hensley of Kirkland, Wash.; son, James Hensley (18); daughter, Emma Hensley (15); and his children's mother, Pamela Hensley all of Morro Bay. He is also leaves his uncle and aunt, Bill and Carol Venne of Windsor, Colo.; father and mother-in-law, Ken and Katrina Keatts of Paso Robles; and brother and sister-in-law, Garrick and Tera Keatts of Denver, Colo.; and a huge circle of friends on the Central Coast and throughout California. A private inurnment will be held at the Cayucos-Morro Bay District Cemetery in Cayucos. A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Last Stage West Restaurant, 15050 Morro Road (Hwy 41) in Atascadero. We loved Jeff. He and Brittany are the best neighbors we've ever had. He will always be in our thoughts.

I will always remember sending my boy's up the street to your place to sit around the camp fire. That is where Everett was first introduced to the star, thanks to you, Brittany, and the rest of the boys. We will miss the twinkle in your eyes and that 'one-of-a-kind' laughter. If I am very still and listen I can still here your laughter.

Brittany, James, and Emma: We are sharing in your tremendous loss of this special person, who was a great friend, plus our renter for several years. We recall with a smile how Jeff would often say, "I'm the happiest clam in the basket." This was so true, as he was one of the most upbeat people we knew. He also loved all of you very much, and actually said so about Brittany, when we last saw him on July 4th.
If cats go to Heaven, Jeff is probably petting Rhubarb right now! He was such a cat lover, and so kind to our feline pets as well.
We will see you at his memorial on August 10th.

To just be a good man is all I ever felt of you. You are selfless and only think of others... to be half the man you are would be a blessing to most! You will be missed and will always have a place amungst your brothers in Morro Bay. RIP my brother.

I can't imagine what the world will be like without the brightness of Jeff Hensley. I will always remember that special twinkle his eyes had whenever he was with his beautiful family. Some of my fondest memories come from the times he would come into Castaways Thrift Store and find yet another treasure to put in his Bike Shop. I'm betting that he has found many things to repair........R.I.P. kind Jeff. Emma and James, your Dad was the very best.
Always, Linda Winters

Sweet Jeff, I'll never forget your big smile, fantastic laugh and bigger-than-life kindness… And those bikes you helped me with…
I just received the sad news this morning…you've been so missed since moving from Morro Bay.
My heart goes out to all of Jeff's family and other friends but particularly to those I had the pleasure of meeting and/or knowing: Brittany, Pam, and a very special love for James and Emma—I will never forget all those times we shared at the bike shop and see you two around town and watching you grow up. You share your dad's kindness and great big hearts. I'll love you always—please don't be strangers; I'm in the same place…
