Marie LaVack Obituary

Marie Jo LaVack, 91, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at home with family. Jo was born in 1920, the tenth child of Maggie and Louis Wisdom in Blue Ridge, Texas. She graduated San Pedro High School (Calif.) as an Ephebian and married the love of her life, Lloyd, in 1938. During his 45-year U.S. Navy career, she raised four sons, through three wars and numerous transfers around the world. At age 47, she began college at Grossmont Junior College in El Cajon, Calif., and graduated in 1969. She attended San Diego State and completed her Ph.D. in Psychology at CSPP San Diego in 1978. Lloyd and Jo moved to San Luis Obispo in 2001. Jo is survived by her sons Jerry, Michael, David (Carol) and Randy (Shayne); grandchildren Lloyd, Elizabeth, Chase, Paul, Madeleine, and Spencer; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other extended. A service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Las Brisas Retirement Community, 1299 Briarwood in San Luis Obispo. The family requests that remembrances be sent to Hospice Partners of the Central Coast, 277 South St, Ste. R, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.

Randy I am very sorry to read of your mom's passing.I no we have not been in contact in many years. But I always will have great memories of what a pretty and very sweet women your mother was to me and all your friends growing up. She was a fine lady and she raised a fine son. I have always thought of you as a great friend and one of the finest people I remember grow up.I am truly sadden by the lost of your Mom. Always your old friend Jack

With sadness we say good bye, but will always hold our memories of Aunt Jo very close to our hearts. She was a dear sweet woman and will be missed greatly. XOXO
