Phil Burke 1937 2014 Philip A. Burke, Avila Beach resident, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Phil was born in San Francisco in November 1937. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in Glendale in 1955, studied at College of Marin and served as a radar operations specialist in the U.S. Navy which allowed him to travel the world. Once back in the Bay Area, he married Suzanne "Molly" Stokes and became a notable commercial/industrial real estate broker in the Silicon Valley. Phil received numerous awards throughout his career including the Industrial Broker of the Year, San Jose 1978, the Hall of Fame Appointment in 1982 by the City of San Jose Chamber of Commerce, and the Association of Silicon Valley Brokers in recognition for outstanding accomplishments in the brokerage community. In 2006, Phil retired to the California Central Coast which allowed him to fulfill his passion for travel, photography and art. Phil is survived by his wife; Molly, and his children; Maureen, Dan (Annie) and Amy (Andre); as well as four grandchildren. Donations to Hospice are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
