Shirley S. Buescher Our community is saddened by the death of Shirley S. Buescher, who died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the age of 84. During her final days, she was surrounded by family and close friends. Shirley will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a member of the Five Cities Community for twenty-six years and touched the lives of so many people in so many ways. Shirley was involved in various organizations, diligently volunteering, and helping to make our community a better place to live. She belonged to the Grover Beach Chamber of Commerce, Quota International, Kiwanis, Republican Women's Federation, The Clark Center Foundation and Oceano Elks Lodge. Shirley became a dancer while she was still in high school and danced for four years with the Merriel Abbott Dancers at the Empire Room, at the Palmer House in Chicago. She danced on the 'Garroway At Large' TV show and worked with many performers such as Victor Borge, Liberace, Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca. Shirley is survived by her son Brook James Buescher (Donna) of Texas; and daughter Laurel Lee Buescher of Florida. She also leaves five grandchildren: Christopher, Nikki, Brooke, Keely and Kyle; and nephew Craig. There will be a celebration of Shirley's life at 11 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel, 1239 Longbranch Avenue, Grover Beach.
