Carolyn Hizey Obituary

Carol Hizey, a 53-year resident of Arroyo Grande, passed away from complications of vascular disease Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at her home. She was born in December 1935 in Lancaster, Ohio, and moved to California in 1955. Along with her husband, Bob, she owned and operated Wilkinson''s Meat Market in the Village of Arroyo Grande for 30 years. She was later employed at Native Sons Nursery. Carol greatly enjoyed her family, gardening, baking and live jazz music. She was known for her willingness to work hard at whatever she did. Carol is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Pace (Dan); sons Steven and Steward (Kim); 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren (who called her Grandma Butterfly); sister, Nita Stever; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; and daughter, Robin Jackson. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice Partners of the Central Coast, 277 South St. Ste. R, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. Marshall-Spoo 489-5552 Grover Beach
