David Brooks Obituary

1962 ~ 2010 David Brooks passed away at his home near Paso Robles Monday, Aug. 16, 2010. A student of life, he loved the history of his heritage, exploring his Viking roots, his family tree and their role in America, and the technology of weapons, from blades to firearms. He enjoyed hunting, loved art, poetry and music and was a master blacksmith. Dave was bold of heart, true of spirit and loyal to his friends and family. There will be a celebration of his life at noon Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010. We will meet on the south side of Morro Rock to toss flowers in David''s memory, then adjourn to 451 Embarcadero for a potluck and barbecue. For details, call 528-7266.

I still miss Dave. He would have been a severely decent influence on Andy as a friend had he been around those extra years.

David and I spent 2 wonderful years living together. We didn't have t.v. Or the internet but I was never board. Almost every night we cuddled up on the couch and he read to me( Louis LaMoore). I always thought me would end up together. I waited too long. I loved him, madly. I miss him so much it hurts. He was so smart and creative. Such a loving and gentle soul.

Not me, but his life story reads a lot like my own, and we shared our name. See you in Valhalla, tocayo.

Our family loved Dave. He was very special to all of us. Dave loved sharing the mountains with the children in our family. He loved showing them a snake or any other little critter in the area. He shared their joy when they caught a fish, he truly shared their joy of life. Dave always took the time to visit with friends, always making you feel welcome. Dave was a good man, and he is missed deeply. Thank you to those who posted the wonderful pictures of Dave. He was a true friend that left us way too soon.

I was about 8 years old when I first met David. We had just moved back to Morro Bay, and he had become fast friends with my Dad. David was such a cool guy, surrounding himself with lots of old machines made of steel and many interesting projects in progress. He introduced me to the The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and his dog nearly capsized us out on the bay one time. He had so many interesting things to say. He is missed.

David, my Viking brother, you taught me so many things. Our time was too short. I will miss you like air.
Love to your beautiful soul.
