Edward Nichols Obituary

Edward Monroe Nichols, 93, of Paso Robles was born in April 1917, and died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010. He was born in Lemoore, Calif., to William Henry and Irma Zena (Hubbard) Nichols. Ed grew up in California and worked on his father''s ranch in Lemoore until he went in to the U.S. Army. He served at Camp Roberts from 1941 to 1945 as a mechanic in the motor pool during World War II. He loved motorcycles, boating, hunting, fishing and adventures. He built "Finally," a 16 ft. inboard power boat - it was the first inboard power boat to go down the rapids on the Colorado River. Ed owned and ran Ed Nichols Auto Body Shop in Paso Robles. He resided at his home in Paso Robles for many years before he moved to The Lodges at Ada''s Vineyard. We wish to thank Gary and Kathy Tucker and the staff at The Lodges at Ada''s Vineyard for their wonderful care, as well as Hospice Partners of the Central Coast. Ed is survived by two nieces, two nephews and their children, as well as cousins and step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; parents; brother, Floyd; and two sisters Elise and Ruth. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at the Paso Robles Cemetery. Kuehl-Nicolay Funerals 238-4383 Paso Robles

Dad's best fishing buddy and the stories you told ! All those fishing trips to Mexico and dove hunting. I bet dad had a fishing pole just waiting for you. Prayers, thoughts and hugs to your family. We will miss you.

Ed always had a smile for everyone and at Ada's he was a joy to see when we visited with Mom. He always enjoyed a kind word and his smile was worth a thousand words. He will be missed.
