Wow, Dad. The dust has settled after I have finished the work that you asked of me. As always with your advice, instruction, and requirement of me, it was the best that ever I did. Of your children, I was with you the longest and I claim a chunk of memory of your life and friends.
You told me once that I chose you to be my parent. Somebody pointed my nose in the BEST direction, because you made my life in OUR family the BEST this Earth has to offer. I've had some time to grow and think and feel by my ownself lately, and my cellular being is imprinted with the many looks of Jacques Vogt. All be speaking your views of life (always touched by laughter and chagrin, charged with philosophical depth).
I'm passing it on, Dad. It's all been to valuable to waste. And I have a book of you. I 'splain it as I go to everyone whose attention I can grab at the propitious moment. See? I remember what you taught me, Dad. The right tool for the right job. Love, Lani.

Hi Grandpa! I love re-reading what people said about you. You're the best, I talk about you often, and quote you lots. I miss ya a ton, I wish you could meet my husband, I think you two would get along. You make me smile, even though I can't see you everyday. I love you both! See ya on the other side ;p

I'm very certain that mom and pop are hugging each other now for a job well done! Besides the ups and downs that we all go through in one way or another, they seemed to be on the sunnier side of the street more often tan not, and are probably now enjoying very moment. My last moments with mom it seemed she was very happy. Yay, Dad, and Mom! I love you both so much.

Well, it's taken me 3 years to confront this guest book. I am going to have to come back, yet again, before I can write what might be a fitting tribute.
but, right now, and every day, when I think of you, Pop, I think about how very much I miss you.
I was SoOO lucky to have been able to spend those last few years of this lifetime with you.
Over the years, you covered all the bases of fatherhood for me: papa, mentor, friend and always open for discussion on what ever was up to discuss. I learned so much from you. In my younger years and more recently.
Mostly how amazingly fair you are with people, and willing to let them shine - indeed, encouraging them to shine.
I miss you Poppa and, selfish as it may be, wish you were still in my life. Showing me which wrench to use and when to use a hammer instead, but wait...look! and see how well that elbow grease works!

I knew Jacques mostly from our many happy hours spent together playing at Morro Bay Charity Bridge Club. His sunny disposition and gentle sense of humor made him a joy to be around. The two of us frequently encountered each other while stopping at the post office to pick up mail and each occasion was a time for joking and celebration. Jacques never complained about anything and always found joy and goodness even in the simple affairs of everyday life. I still look for him during each trip to the post office.
There he is...

though I only knew him briefly (way back when in the 60s, went to school with his kids, Jamie and I were in the same grade, and our parents were friends) I always have thought pop into my mind about those brief days way back when in the 60s and that strange carefree life in Nevada. God Bless you

Jacques was such a special man. He was one of my all time favorite customers and I would always look forward to visiting with Him when He would come in to buy propane. He was funny, witty, and it was such an inspiration to see Him coming in after working out at the gym. He was so proud of His Family and His Life and He would always share great stories about them. I'm going to miss seeing my friend come in and also miss seeing Him at The Graduate on Sundays, cheering on His Beloved Buffalo Bills. He was a One-Of-A-Kind and I'm very Grateful to have known Him. God Bless You and Your Family.

Dear Jacques,
OK-Jack. Never really knew if you preferred one name over the other.
If I could name one person that was the most influential in my life, it would be you. You were one year ahead of me in Buffalo Technical High School. We later meet with our wives just before you left Buffalo for a career in show-biz.
We later meet up when my family moved from Phoenix to LA, where you graciously has us as house guests until I got a job
as a tool¨ maker. You kept asking me to see the "Bob Crosby Show" which you were working. I finally did and it turned my life around. I walked in with you and there was music and laughter. What a lucky guy this Jack Vogt is. Lucky, talented, creative and a true friend. Joan and Jack. Both extremely gifted in so many areas.
Well that day when I show your show, I knew what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I was fortunate enough to have worked or played as a cameraman for ABC-TV in 1956. Won two Emmy's and nominated for 13.
In inclusion I want to thank you for being the most humorous, intelligent, and lovable character I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. To me you are still living in my memory.
God bless your new journey,
