James Robertson Obituary

James "Jim" Robertson, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010. Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of Robert and Hattie Robertson. Jim joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and was stationed at Camp Roberts in California. It was at a USO dance in Paso Robles that he met the love of his life, Frances "Frankie" Robertson. They made Paso Robles their home, where they raised their six children. Jim was honorably discharged from the Army in 1956. Jim worked for Pacific Gas and Electric Company as a meter reader, until he retired in 1989. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, and along with many others, was instrumental in starting the Youth Tackle Football League in Paso Robles. Jim wanted a family of nine boys so he could have his own baseball team, but settled at six children when Frankie delivered him four girls and two boys. He coached little league baseball teams for many years and played men''s fast pitch and slow pitch softball. Jim was an avid Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins fan. He was a Boy Scout Troop Leader and active in the Paso Robles Elks Lodge for many years. Jim is survived by his children, Harold Robertson (Linda) of Pozo, James "Jimbo" Robertson (Michelle) of North Plainfield, N.J., Nancy Parcells (Alfred Jr.) of Middlesex, N.J., Cathy David (Steve) of Atascadero, Theresa Robertson of Paso Robles and Jean Graziano of Simi Valley, Calif.; sister, Ruth Winters of Greenville, R.I.; grandchildren Alfred Parcells (Denise), Spencer Parcells (Colleen), Quenton Robertson, Hattie Koker (Kelly), Lauren Graziano, Kyle Graziano and Carly Robertson; and great-grandchildren Isabel Parcells and Thomas James Parcells. A service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at St. James Episcopal Church, 1335 Oak St. in Paso Robles. A gathering for family and friends will be held immediately following the service at the Parish Hall. A private family burial will be held at the Paso Robles District Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Jim''s wife Frances Robertson, to Hospice Partners of the Central Coast, 277 South St. Ste. R, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. To all the Robertson cildren and family

Frankie and Jim were always so very kind and hospitabl to me whenever I went don to Calirnia to visit Michelle, Jimbo and my granddaughter Carly. You are so right in saying that Frankie was the love of Jim's life. They passed just over 6 months apart - which also prooves that they were SOUL MATES. I feel sadly for your confusion and sense of loss you all must be feeling. You're most likely still grieving for your Mom and Grandma and then Dad/Grandpa just up and follows her. There they are - so young, just shining with the light of love - dancing in the cotillion of Heaven. I am the Canadian Grammie/Mom - should you ever need a shoulder to cry on, please think of me - I pray for your peace. You can reach me at [email protected].

Frankie and Jim were always so kind and hospitable to me whenever I came down to California to visit Michelle and Jimbo. Your Mom and Dad, Robertson children, having left this world just over 6 months apart, shows wthout a doubt that Frankie was indeed the love of Jim's life and that they were SOUL MATES. I am so very sorry for the pain and confusion you all must feel at this time - probably not even completed grieving for your Mom and then Dad goes and follows her. Straignt to heaven - there they are - so young and happy and full of love - dancing in the gardens of heaven. I am Michelle's Mom. Jimbo's "Mom-in-law" and Carly's Canadian Grammie. Now if you ned a mom or a shoulder to cry on - remember your Canadian Mom who is praying for yor peace.

I love you all

I grew up with the Robertson's while visiting my grandmother across the street. Jim and Frankie were always good to us kids and I have very fond memories of them. My thoughts are with all six of their children.

Harold, Nancy, Theresa, Cathy, Jimbo and Jeannie, your spouses and children. I received word from my mom today that your dad had passed away. I have so many fond memories of your father, and most all of them include your mother. Your folks were the perfect example of love and marriage, sticking together no matter what. Your dad had a way of always making me feel special, asking about my life, my family and how I was doing. His kindness and quick smile will continue to hold a special place in my heart. For all the sadness of his passing, my heart can't help but feel peace in knowing that your mom and dad are together again, Jim and Frankie ... just as it has always been. I send my deepest sympathy and love to you all.

David and I became Frankie and Jims neighbors 5 years ago. They would always tell us how much they enjoyed watching our kids play in the front yard. On occasion Jim would get out of his chair to talk baseball with David. Especially when the Yankee's would take a beaten from the Red Sox's. Frankie would always come over to chat and check on us. We feel so blessed to have them be part of our lives for that short period of time. They really made us feel like we've known them all of our lives. They were the kind of neighbors you can trust to borrow sugar or eggs from. These types of neibors aren't common anymore. Thank you for your friendships. You will always be in our hearts. With love, David and Erika Tidwell

I'll never forget being interviewed for a meter reader position by Jim, Steve and Mike. That was just a few years ago(28). I enjoyed working under Jim. He was a great man and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. Your friends, Eli and Laura Afana
