Joyce Noe Obituary

Joyce Noe died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at her San Luis Obispo home, surrounded by her family. Joyce was born in 1915 on a farm in Mangum, Okla. She and her sister, Corene (Darney), moved to Santa Monica, Calif., in 1933. She met her future husband, William "Bill" Noe, while working at Sontag Drug Store, she as a waitress and he as the manager. After marrying in 1936, they moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., and worked resorts in the Pikes Peak area. They moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she worked during the war years for McDonnell-Douglas and he worked as a machinest at the Long Beach Naval Shipyards at Terminal Island. After the war, their daughters, Karen "DeeDee" and Melinda "Mendy," were born. While their daughters were growing up, she was very involved with the First Congregational Church in Long Beach having served as "choir mother" for many years. They relocated in 1961 to San Luis Obispo, where they opened Noe''s Restaurant, downtown on Higuera St. She became quite well-known for her German Chocolate and Orange Juice cakes. She loved her family. The birthdays and holidays were always spent at her home with great food and laughter. The family wishes to thank Hospice Partners of the Central Coast for their kindness and care. She leaves daughters DeeDee Peters (Karl) of Vallejo, Calif., and Melinda Falkenstern (Lance) of Atascadero; grandsons Mitch Falkenstern, Luke Falkenstern and Stevan Peters; along with nieces, nephews and their families. Her husband, Bill, died in 1990. A family memorial will be held at a later time.

My thoughts, prayers and sympathies to Mendy, Dee Dee and the entire Noe family. Your mom was a special lady that I am glad I knew for so many years. Mendy, her life touched so many and that touch is reflected so vividly in Mitch and Luke.

Dear Dee Dee..I am so sorry for your loss....there really are no words that can ease the heart ach or stop the tears, I will just pray that the Lord will bring you peace. My mother passed in January and I still want to go to the phone and call her. Hope you are well, God Bless
