Mar Lee Turner, 78, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at home, in the company of her family. She was born in Orange, Calif., in 1932 to Boyd and Lillian Munger, grew up in Irvine, Calif., and graduated from Tustin Union High School in 1950. She attended the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she made lifelong friends as a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and graduated with a bachelor''s degree in Home Economics. Mar Lee married the love of her life, Earl Turner, in Santa Ana in 1954. Together they raised two children, Boyd and Gail. While Boyd and Gail were growing up, Mar Lee was involved with Girl Scouting. She led a troop of junior high girls on many adventures across California and is still admired by many of those "girls." Boyd married Kathy Clary, and they live in Fall River Mills, Calif., and Gail married Ron Lovely, and they live in Friendswood, Texas. One of the many joys of Mar Lee''s life was being "Grammy" to her grandchildren Scott, Heather, Sam and Alex. Her friends have heard their stories and shared in her joy at her grandchildren''s many accomplishments. Mar Lee had a lifelong passion for sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress and even made the wedding dresses for her daughter and daughter-in-law. Her quilts are treasured possessions to those lucky enough to have one. Mar Lee and Earl moved to Morro Bay in 1990 and she was a founder of the Dairy Creek Women''s Golf Club. Mar Lee and Earl made many friends in the Morro Bay area through their love of golf and travel. They traveled extensively in their fifth-wheel trailer and visited much of North America, as well as having toured six continents. Mar Lee was a strong woman whose determination was apparent to many as she worked hard to recover from a stroke, fight cancer and care for Earl during his long illness. She kept a smile on her face and was always ready to help others despite her own difficulties. Mar Lee''s family invites her friends to a luncheon and celebration of her life at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at the Dairy Creek Golf Course.
