Robert McCoid

Native 1935 ~ 2010 Robert J. McCoid, loving husband, father and grandfather was guided by the good Lord to his new home Friday, Oct. 1, 2010. Bob was born in Los Angeles in July 1935 and grew up in Whittier, Calif. After graduation from high school, he and his brother, Bill, joined the U.S. Air Force. After his discharge, he joined hands with his dream girl, Dorothy, whom he had met on a blind date just before he joined the service. They shared a blessed 51 years together. They resided in Lake Elsinore for 12 years before they moved to the Central Coast. Bob had worked with the Lucia Mar School District for 18 years when he retired. He was a great family man and enjoyed doing many things with his family and friends, such as camping, fishing, fishing, and fishing, barbecuing and square dancing. Bob will be greatly missed by his wife, Dorothy; sons Jon (Denise) of Arroyo Grande and David (Sheree) of Atascadero; daughters Sheila (Shane) Day of Grover Beach and Ruth (Chris) Fredrickson of Lompoc, Calif.; 12 grandchildren Kevin, Brian, Amber, Heather and Adam McCoid, Joshua, Rebecca and Shannon McCoid, and Michael, Jasmyn, Sierra and Dannielle Day. He is also survived by his brother, Bill of Yountville, Calif.; sister, Linda (John) Lumos of Nevada City, Calif.; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Ruby McCoid. A memorial service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, 1701 Fredricks St. in San Luis Obispo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in San Luis Obispo, St. John''s Lutheran Church in Arroyo Grande or the American Cancer Society.
