Robert Saliger Obituary

Robert Saliger, 71, of Grover Beach, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at his home. Bob was born in Clear Lake, Iowa, to Rudy and Dena Saliger. He graduated from Clear Lake High School and shortly thereafter, moved to California. Bob started working at Circle Seal Controls in Pasadena, where he met Virginia, whom he married in 1963. Bob and Virginia raised their two daughters, Dawn and Stacy, in Fullerton. They moved to Cambria in 1986 and Bob began a new career as a spa service owner. He loved the rapport he had with his customers and serviced their spas for 13 years. They then lived in San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach. Bob loved camping with his wife, Ginny, cooking for his family and tinkering in his garage. He also loved watching the Lakers and the Dodgers. Bob served on the board at Bolsa Chica Estates and was one of the chief cooks for the pancake breakfasts there and at our family reunions. Bob was known for his huge smile, warm hugs and firm handshake. Bob will be missed by his wife, Ginny; daughters Dawn Penner of Grover Beach and Stacy Wadlow (Marty) of Grover Beach; grandchildren Kevin and Drew Penner of Corona, Calif., and Hannah, Joel and Caleb Wadlow of Grover Beach; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Dena Saliger; and brothers Rudy and Donald Saliger. A celebration of Bob''s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at New Life Community Church, 990 James Way in Pismo Beach. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bob''s name to Hospice Partners of the Central Coast, 277 South St. Ste. R, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
