Roger Winquist Obituary

Roger Dale Winquist, beloved husband and best friend, was born in Cloquet, Minn., in 1933, and passed into the presence of the Lord Sunday, July 18, 2010, in Arroyo Grande. Roger was always interested in flight and earned his degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he made many friendships that lasted a lifetime. After his service, he was employed at Lockheed Missiles and Space in Sunnyvale, Calif., where he met and married Marilyn. Roger enjoyed skiing, fly fishing, hiking the Sierra Mountains and canoeing in the boundry waters of Minnesota and Canada. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at New Life Community Church, 990 James Way in Pismo Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Life Community Church or the American Cancer Society.

Marilyn,
I'm eleven years late. And you would think that learning of Roger's passing would possibly be less hurtful. It isn't.
We went through CU together. My mom pinned his lieutenant bars on him at graduation. I can only imagine how much joy Roger must have brought to your life.
