Tina Witte Obituary

Tina Witte, 53, of Los Osos, was carried by angels into the arms of Jesus after a tragic fall on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. "Teacher Tina," as she was known to many children and parents, was a preschool director/teacher at Sonshine Christian School of Los Osos for over 18 years. Born in Inglewood, Calif., in May 1957, Tina''s family later moved to Anaheim, Calif., where she volunteered as a kindergarten teacher''s aide while in high school. Here she discovered her special gift of working with young children that became her vocation for over 35 years. She eventually worked at preschools in Santa Ana, Tustin, Los Osos, and Morro Bay before finding her ministry home at Sonshine. In November 1975, while working as a receptionist for a small electronics equipment manufacturer in Santa Ana, she met and began dating her future husband, Michael. They married three years later and moved to Los Osos in December 1978. Tina touched the lives of hundreds of children and parents with her loving, kind, gentle and compassionate soul. She worked tirelessly every day (and long after closing) to make sure the many needs of the school program were always met. She loved watching her own children perform, singing in her church''s choir, gardening, shopping, wiener dogs, her iPhone, "chick flicks," music, some TV and home decorating. Above all else, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. Tina is survived by her husband, Michael; sons Patrick (Vanya) and Brian; daughter, Shannon; mother, Hazel; brother, Steve (Lyndsey); sister in-law, Marcie; adopted aunt, Judy; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, James; father in-law, Frank; mother in-law, Carol; uncle, Pete; and aunt, Shirley. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sat. Oct. 30, 2010, at the Church Of The Nazarene, 1480 Santa Ysabel Ave. in Los Osos. In lieu of flowers, donations, designated "Sonshine Scholarships," can be made to FBC of Los Osos, P.O. Box 6182, Los Osos, CA 93412-6182.

26 years ago Tina was my Director and Head Teacher at Rainbows End Day Care and Preschool in Los Osos. I worked with her for over 6 years. She was always full of ideas, energy, kindness, and love. I learned a lot from her which I use everyday. She will always hold a special place in my heart. My sympathies are with you Michael and all your children who I remember as babies.

Dear Mike, Patrick, Brian, Shannon Rose,
Just want to say how sorry we are for your loss. Tina was such a beautiful person - always smiling, always willing to lend a hand if you needed help with anything. I don't believe there wasn't anything she couldn't do (and might add, always done well). Will miss her beautiful voice coming from the choir, but she is singing beautiful praises where she is now. There are so many things that can be said about Tina, but we just want you to know we will miss her & especially her great "Hugs" - but we're certain she's passing them around where she is now. We hope you can find Comfort and Peace knowing that we & others share in your sadness. God's Continued Blessings to all of you & bunches of "Hugs". Love in Christ Mary Jane & Jim Rinker,< Los Osos, CA

Such a loss for many friends, family and the Los Osos community. Tina was strong of faith and kind of heart. I knew her best as Pat's mom and I know she loved and supported him in all he did. I pray for comfort and peace for her family and all that knew and loved her. She has touched many and will be missed.

Mike-I was so saddened and shocked to hear of Tina. I can imagine your pain. If it is any comfort, you should know how she helped me, some 25 years ago when I was stuggling to put my own life back together. After loosing my own wife, I was nervous and anxious about having to put my young son in day care full time. I had not been happy with what I had for him before. I asked her the sily question " do you like your job"?. Her answer was "Its my life"! Well, my anxiety was relieved. I still have pictures of her presiding over "graduation" from Rainbow's End, when my son was about to enter kindergarten. He is grown up now, and I am so glad he had the start he did with her.
