Mark Brunasso Obituary

Mark Anthony Brunasso was born in April 1958, and died of heart failure Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012. Mark will most be remembered for his many roles in local theatre, such as Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys & Dolls, King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar, Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Francis Flute/ Thisbe in A Midsummer Night''s Dream. He most recently performed with the Central Coast Shakespeare Festival and Murder in Mind dinner mystery theatre in Shell Beach. Mark was blessed with a beautiful voice and loved to sing. He had participated in his church choir for over 20 years. Over the years, he was a printer, but rather recently found a job that made him truly happy as a courier for Central Coast Clinical Lab/Pathology Inc., out of Templeton. Mark is survived by his wife of 26 years, Debbie, and their daughter, Kelsey, who he proudly saw graduate from Wells College in New York this past May. He is also survived by his father, John (Betty); brothers John, Matthew and Michael; sisters Theresa and Mary and their extended families; as well as Debbie''s family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma. There will be a celebration of Mark''s life at 11 a.m Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church,1830 Farroll Road in Grover Beach. In lieu of flowers, please support your local theaters by seeing a play or play some Frank Sinatra, and remember Mark, a man who loved to entertain.

As enjoyable as Mark was onstage, backstage and at rehearsals he was hilarious. Many a tech run-through was bearable only through Mark's presence, his humor, and his spirit. We shall miss you!

I am so heartbroken...The last play I ever acted in was "Guys and Dolls" with Mark...I played Adelaide and Mark was the best Nicely Nicely I have ever seen....And he WAS nice, so nice...ever cheerful..fully a pro and ALWAYS COMPLETELY DEVOTED TO HIS FAMILY.....I cannot make the service, but my thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful wife and daughter....I am watching "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat" right now sobbing...he always brought the house down....I love you Mark...God Bless us all for knowing you...I treasure all of the other comments...we are all so heartbroken...love to all...especially his family... <3

I just found out and I would like to send my prayers. I can still hear Mark singing out loud, "the prince is giving a ball"! He gave so much life and heart to every character. And of course , he was the most kind and generous person. Mark, you have now moved on but you will always stay out in my heart!

I can't believe that Mark's infectious joie de vivre is no longer going to brighten everyone's day. I was lucky to be in so many productions with Mark. We shared playful times, even a silly inside joke from Superstar, but many heartfelt conversations too. He was a dear man, a mega-talented performer, a true friend, and an asset to all of us.

My wonderful friendship with Mark started many years ago. I am so saddened by this news and the loss of an incredible man to his family, friends, theatres, and the world. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I miss Marco. Many years ago, I directed his first onstage role. He enjoyed acting almost as much as his audiences enjoyed him.

Debbie and Kelsey:

Mark's rendition of "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat" in "Guys and Dolls" is one of my favorite theatre moments. It was a show stopper. God blessed him with a great talent which he generously shared with his audiences. Always a great smile and a big hug. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies to you both.

Debbie and Kelsey,
Thank you for sharing Mark with us. He entertained more than his audiences, he entertained everyone he met. His talent was a ample mix of charm and wit. Doing shows without him will not be the same. The world is diminished by the loss. My prayers are with the two of you, he always spoke fondly of you.

I am so, so sorry...I am still very saddened by this news. Mark will always be one of my favorite people I've had the pleasure to perform with (in my case the pleasure to play with during rehearsals and performances). My favorite moments....dueling William (Shakespeare) Shatners. He beat me everytime :)
I miss him terribly. My heart and thoughts for you two

It's unimaginable that I am even writing on a remembrance page for Mark, when he exuded such life every day. I will forever recall his endless smile, infectious laugh, and ridiculously high tenor notes. The theater community dimmed a great deal last Thursday. Debbie and Kelsey, my heart goes out to you both. God's blessings at this most difficult time. Love, Jenny

So sad to say goodbye to Mark. Linda and I enjoyed so much working with Mark on those old, great PLOT musicals. I can still hear, "In town long, Gay?" Wonderful man, wonderful friend. Too soon. I'm singing the day of the service, can't be there. But, I'll be thinking of Mark.

Debbie & Kelsey-
With a heavy heart we have to say goodbye to Mark. Please know how often he shared memories and fun family times with me while being my courier. I loved when he was practicing for a play, he would do his "stage voice" the whole time he was picking up my specimens. Mark also shared how special his trip was back east while he was able to see Kelsey graduate from college and the fun family side trips that you all had this year.

Thank you Mark for being so silly and breaking up my slow days with your humor and song, I miss your smile.
