Jimmie Ray "Jim" Venable died suddenly Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at his home in Sisters, Ore. He was born in April 1945 in Gilroy, Calif., and graduated from Atascadero High School in 1963, where he was a varsity letterman. Jim was a certified electrician and worked at Unocal for 23 years and then owned Gold Coast Electrical for seven years. He retired and along with his wife of 32 years, Marsha Venable, moved to his dream home in Sisters in 2004. He was a wonderful cook, an avid golfer and member of the chain gang for Sisters High School football team. He worked at Aspen Lakes Golf Course in Sisters up to his passing. Jim is survived by his wife, Marsha Venable; children Stacy Arthurs, Jimmie Venable and Mindy Horton (Cliff); and grandchildren Jenna Patarak, Rylee and Jordin Arthurs, Payton and Samuel Horton, Skyler and Victoria Venable, Katelynn Ramos and James, Darby and Colton Ramos. He is also survived by stepchildren Jim Ramos (Shanna), Tom Ramos and Pam Pulis (Jamie); and siblings Eldon Venable, Joyce McMasters, Gary Venable, Richard Venable, and Marcia Estrada. Private memorial services will be held in Sisters and Bakersfield, Calif.
