Susan Cee (Hoyos) Ley, 51, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, in San Luis Obispo, surrounded by family and loved ones. Susan, "Sue" to many of her friends, was born in March 1962 in Sacramento, Calif., to Candido Bill Hoyos and Silvia Irene. Her family moved to the Central Coast when she was a child, where she lived until she graduated from San Luis Obispo High School in 1980. Susan was an astute businesswoman and owned several Subway restaurants in her 20s. Many may know or recognize Sue from her more recent business as manager of the Bridgeview Asian Grill, previously in Railroad Square. Susan was a hard-worker and took pride in her work Susan was blessed with many good qualities and characteristics. She was a spirited, intelligent, and caring woman, and had a beautiful heart and soul. Susan was vivacious, and loved music and dancing. She was also a very giving person and loved to spend time with her longtime friends, both on the Central Coast and in the Sacramento area. Sue also had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel and had lived several years in both Aspen, Colo., and London. She was athletic and was very good at both snow and water skiing, and she enjoyed hiking and the outdoors. Sue was also strong and determined, qualities that served her well in her successful battle over advanced breast cancer 10 years ago. Susan was a terrific mother, and was extremely proud of both her sons. We would like to extend our gratitude and special thanks to the ICU nurses, unit director, physicians, and social services, among others, at French Hospital. Together, these highly skilled, dedicated and compassionate health care professionals provided Susan with excellent care. Susan is survived by her sons Chandler Joseph, (18), and Bennett Allen (16); husband, Richard Ley; sisters Annette, Linda and Judy; brothers Bill, Jack and Jimmy; and sisters Jeanette and Jackie. She is also survived by Richard Berg, a man who so deeply loved Susan. Thought for the day: Life can change in an instant, so let the people you love know how much you care, everyday. For all of Susan's friends, those of you who knew or loved her, please join us in a "CELEBRATION OF SUSAN'S LIFE," to be form 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at the San Luis Obispo Country Club, 255 Country Club Dr. in San Luis Obispo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Susan Cee Ley Memorial Account at any Rabobank Bank location. Donations will be used towards college funds for her two sons.
