Ruth Carolyn George passed away the evening of August 26th. Ruth was born June 6, 1920 in Fowler California, to Ernest and Charlotte Greve and was the oldest of 3 children. She went to Peru when she was 3 years old, as her father owned a gold mine there. She crossed the Andes to go to the mouth of the Amazon River to return home, when the mine was taken away by the Peruvian Government They moved to Watsonville where her father owned a Service Station. She graduated from Watsonville High School. She went to Hartnell College and graduated San Jose State College.
She worked as a switchboard operator and was on duty when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and watched the entire board light up. In her early years she was an active protester against the policy of Japanese Internment during World War II, she was active in Politics, Women's Voting issues and The Cub and Boy Scouts of America. She was an avid reader and a supporter of the Public Library. She always made sure people who had no place to go for a holiday or dinner, had a place to go.
After the war she married Robert George. She had 5 children, Susan (Nick) Roberts, Robert George Jr, David George, Douglas George and Kathryn George. She has 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her 2 brothers, Ernest and Steven. There will be a private service at a later date.
