Not sure what to say?

This is a bit late, but I only just learned of Carl's passing. I was one of his friends in Zaire, and as someone mentioned, he could fix anything and we all relied on him. He was a good man - one of the best. My condolences to his family.

Such a shock and a sad day for our family to learn that our dear friend and neighbor of twenty plus years, has passed away. What a great guy Carl was! Looking back, how many times during a storm our heater, or something would break and it was Carl to the rescue. In the future, when we re-visit Boulder Creek, it will never feel the same. We can't imagine not being able to say hello and talk to him about the old neighborhood. We will miss his sweet stories and his contagious laughter. We will especially miss watching him interact with Heather and the children. Thinking about Carl passing brings the following song to mind, it's called "Dancing in the Sky" by Dani and Lizzy. Click on the following link, or you can listen to it on Youtube.

Carl was my friend and mentor and I learned much from him over the years while working at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company in Sunnyvale California. Carl was a brilliant systems and mechanical design engineer who consistently thought outside the box. Carl had an uncanny way of being able to peer into some of the most complicated engineering problems and come up with a viable and effect solution.
The main thing I will always remember about Carl was his compassion for others and how he put principles first, such as his faith and his family; attributes that I try to emulate as best I can. I always remember the laughter and the great stories we shared.
My family and I are keeping Heather and the kids in thought and prayer.

I loved working with Carl at Lockheed, as a collegue and a fried. He could always be counted on to lighten the mood with silly joke, but when it came to expertise and attention to detail, Carl was all business. I enjoyed his visits to our Lab and will miss him. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Take care.

Carl was a good friend in high school and again when we reconnected over 40 years later at our Yosemite reunions. Smartest guy I ever new. He could fix anything that was broken, and if he didn't have the right tool for the job, he would make one. Carl will be missed.

Rest In Peace Carl. In the last 28 years at Lockheed Martin I have worked with at least a 100 Mechanical Engineers. I have to tell you that Carl is on the top of that list. He was a pleasure to work with. Here is one example of many: Carl designed the flare and flare deployment system on our THAAD Missile. Management told him it would never work better than conventional fins on the back of a Missile. His flare design is still working nicely today. So sad to hear about his passing.

Carl was a 'best friend' for nearly 50 years. We worked on cars and scooters in High School, roomed at Cal Poly, worked at Lockheed and partied in Yosemite. He was one of the smartest and most interesting people I've known - the car pool was never boring. I will miss him as I would an arm, leg and eye.
Your friend, Willie.

Carl, we didn't always agree but it was always great to work with him. The one thing you could always expect from Carl was an honest opinion.. he pretty much always had an opinion on anything we worked on together and we often agreed to disagree and got a good laugh out of it in the bargain. His ability to concept complex mechanical systems is unmatched in my experience, he was the best!

I only had the opportunity to work with Carl during the last few years, however it was immediately obvious why people listened when he talked. He had a calm and teaching way that provided confidence that he could solve your problems. The Navy has relied on his skills to keep the world safe by having the most credible deterrent possible. I hope we honor his memory by trying to consistantly achieve his standard for great engineering. We will miss you Carl. God bless you and your family.

Carl and I never really fit the mold at Bohannon Jr High in 1963 and he became a trusted friend. We were the original Dorks and knew that was OK amidst the rest of our Classmates.
