Charles Marshall passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2013, age 83. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, served in the U.S. Army in Europe during the Korean War
, then earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Brooklyn College.
Charlie's interests and careers varied widely during his life, including computer programming, psychotherapy, astronomy and the natural world. He made many friends during his long residence in Santa Cruz.
He was married and divorced twice. He is survived by his seven children, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, nieces and nephews, and long-time companion and best friend Gitelle Kaplan. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
The family would like to thank Santa Cruz County Hospice and the VA Palo Alto Medical Center staff for their care, which greatly eased his passing. At his request no service is planned.
